Dear Editor,
It is really frustrating to use Digicel’s ‘Free After 3,’ and get cut off after a few minutes; You call again and you’re cut off again. To make it worse, you get a text telling you to text a number to win fabulous prizes. However, these texts cost fifty dollars each. I called Digicel’s Customer Care several times and was given some stupid excuses − You pressed a wrong button, or your party must have hung up on you, etc. The government and the PUC should do something about this practice. Consumers must get what they pay for. Most people do not bother to check, so they are not aware that there is a problem. More people should check to see what they’re getting.
Yours faithfully,
M S Baksh
Editor’s noteWe sent a copy of this letter to the Public Relations Officer of Digicel for any comments he might wish to make, and received no response.
Now look at this wretch complaining. True the system is not 100%, there are times when you get errors. On any networks, calls are dropped from time to time. No mobile company can claim to be an exception.
Maybe this person should check their blasted phone for the problem, maybe your friend isn't getting a proper signal on their phone, or maybe their party just cannot bear to listen to their annoying squeak of a tone for three minutes. Why not provide Digicel with your address and ask them for your own tower...wretch!
Yes Digicel does offer promotions using their text messaging service but terms and conditions apply. EVERYBODY knows that, and EVERYBODY knows that those messages cost more to send than a regular text message. Oh shucks, imagine cross dressing is a crime but stupidity isn't. I realize that you like things either free or cheap and as much as you get a lot of those from Digicel, you still want to win fabulous prizes for either free or cheaply. Be realistic Cheapskate! It is a marketing strategy. Cellink is currently doing it also, only thing is, their prize of a ticket to the Bollywood/Chutney/Soca party isn't so fabulous but still they are charging 'premium rates'.
And one final point to note is that the CSR's at Digicel aren't going to tell you nonsense like you pressed the wrong button...that's just nonsense, lying nonsense if you asked me.
No I am not the PR officer that Stabroek News sent this letter to.
