Clive Lloyd sued for $9.5M
Clive Lloyd, former West Indies Test Captain, is being sued by contractor Kailie Ramjohn of Lot 43 Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, for breach of contract.
The matter was filed at the Commercial Court Division in the Supreme Court, Georgetown, by Attorney Jerome Khan on Wednesday.
Ramjohn is claiming $9,556,798 as money being an amount due, owing and payable by Clive Lloyd for the construction work done on a two-flat apartment complex at Lot 150 Crown Street, Georgetown.
The Plaintiff claims that he entered into the contract to construct a new two-flat residential apartment building for $35 million.
During the process of the construction, Mr. Clive Lloyd ordered, authorized, and approved additional works to be done on the building.
These included works that were excluded from the contract that formed the total cost to complete the project.
In the end the final cost was $45 million.
Ramjohn claimed that he only received $36.9 million.
So when I first saw the headline of this article I thought that Mr. Lloyd was being sued by his former wife for support or something, but it turned out to be this instead.
I don't have much to say about this, except...HOW MUCH OF THAT MONEY THE CONTRACTOR PAID TAXES ON??
The GRA should use artiles and information like these to question individuals about their income and the amount of tax that they paid. There isn't anyone that can honestly tell me that this contractor paid appropriate taxes to the governement and here he is, suing because he was robbed, while at the same time he's robbing the government.
