Cultured Ramblings

For those of who who've been reading the blog so far, I just wanna say thank you, at least you have a sense of humor and a brain.
Now to something I've been meaning to write about for a while but it always keeps slipping me, and something that recently came to light. So, let's go.

Presidential Nonsense:
In case you're one of the few persons who missed this, and there must only be a few as this occurrence made even the regional and international news, let me just briefly offer you a recap.
Mr. Jagdeo wants his newly appointed commissioner of police, to track down the person(s) who are responsible for impersonating him on facebook. Seriously, what the Fcuk is wrong with Bharrat? Has he ever heard of something called a sense of humor or this man is totally and utterly incapable of letting something so trivial go?
We all know he has a thing for going after his enemies and the people that he doesn't like but this is a tad too stupid don't you think? What's he going to do, have some 17yr kid arrested and charged for sedition? (Another Oliver Hinkson in the making probably)
With the police force so hard pressed trying to control "real" crime, the Commander-in-Chief wants to waste precious resources on this. Tracking down someone on facebook, something that our understaffed, ill equipped force would be more than hard pressed to do.
There are several world leaders with 'profiles' on social networks like hi5, facebook, myspace to name a few, most notably US President George Bush who has about 16 in total. Now if the man with all the resources in the world who could have this done in an instant is not bothered with it, why is Jagdeo so concerned? Wasn't it he that earlier last year called for the youth of Guyana to use hi5 etal? He should instead order Mr. Greene to find out exactly what happened to the money from OP. Now there's a real job for you Mr. Commissioner.
Seriously Mr. President, you need to let it go a little, go on a vacation, you really need some time away and we sure could use some time without you.
I guess I should watch what I say before he has the Police Force tracking down this cultured wretch!

Model ... or so He claim's:

Readers of Friday Kaieteur News would recognize the name Alex Wayne as being the writer for the entertainment section.
They would also note that Alex is also a model..What DA F---
Have you seen this guy? more importantly, has he seen himself? There are some established criterion for being a model and those criteria exist for a reason, to keep unwanted, beauty challenged people out of the profession. So what happens when people ignore these rules? Well we have isolated cases of Alex Wayne. This guy does not fit any of the prescribed requirements to be a model. Tall? No. Good looking? No. Stage Presence? No. What then does he think he is doing, if not only making a fool of himself? and why has someone not told Mr. Wayne before that he is no model is beyond me, or maybe he was told and the message went beyond him. He is a journalist after all and one can only hope that his journalistic skills are FAR superior to his modeling travesty. Mr. Wayne, I urge you to reconsider that modeling business and leave it to the real models and you just stick to your job of writing about the models please.

There are Stupid People:

Whilst reading the newspaper, an old edition actually. I came across an article that drew my attention, and for the record, The general rule is, you NEVER send money to someone that you don't know, especially in order to collect more money.
A local woman was hauled before the court for fraud because she allegedly took 4M that wasn't hers from the church penny bank as a deposit for a 350,000 Euros fortune that she won online...heavy sigh
What are some people thinking? How the heck do you just win a boatload of money just like that? and why should you have to pay before you can collect it?
The woman was informed that she won 350,000 Euros but had to make a monetary deposit before she would receive her check and would you believe it, this woman actually fell for that? Now she is before the court charged with fraud but i can't help but think that she's really charged with being stupid. Now I'm feeling a bit sorry for that woman's husband, because he is now tasked with repaying his wife's embezzlement.
Online scams have been around for ages, as long as porn, we've all heard of them, we've all been told how to detect them but the simplest way is pure common sense. Use a little sense for Christ sakes.
Someone tells you, that you won 1 million but you have to pay 100,000 to get it, why not just say, deduct it from my 1 mil?? So simple eh?
