Chanders gets a few more accolades.

Fortunately I’m not speaking about those ‘our version of crystal’ things that were presented at the Cultural Centre sometime back. I’m talking about something much much much better.
After copping the ICC player of the year award and Wisden Cricketer of the year, and a few others, Shiv has scored four more awards. This time they are the Cricinfo awards. Cricinfo, for those of you unaware, is the premier website for all things cricket, past and present.

Shiv won the awards for Batsman of the year, Most Consistent Test Batsman, Best Test Batsman, Highest percentage of team runs. These are the rich and truly deserving awards for this son of the soil. During the period in question, he scored over 909 runs in 9 test matches against the top ranked teams.

Since the retirement of Brian Lara, Shiv has finally been given his due credit and one of the few remaining unfinished matters is for Mr. President himself to upgrade Shiv from the Golden Arrow of Achievement to the Order of Excellence, as he has shown himself to be more than deserving of it.
